Emergencies
For true life-threatening medical emergencies, please dial 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays. If you are currently a patient of Wilmington Ear Nose & Throat Associates, and require immediate attention concerning post-operative care, adverse reactions from prescribed medications, or other immediate medical concerns that cannot wait until regular office hours, we have a 24-hour answering service that will take your information and page the designated doctor on call. Call our office number, 910-762-8754, to be connected.
Prescription Refills
Call for prescription refills during office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. That will allow us to review your chart. Call well before you run out, since some prescriptions may not be able to be filled on the same day. It will speed things along if you have handy your pharmacy phone number, your name and (in the case of a child) weight when you call.
What is a Referral?
If your insurance plan requires a referral, that means your primary care physician (PCP) must authorize and approve your visit to our office. Once your primary care physician determines that you need to consult with an ENT specialist, your physician will contact your plan to request approval in the form of a referral. Your referral must be authorized and approved by your insurance company BEFORE you visit our offices, or you may be expected to pay for the office visit.
You are responsible for knowing whether you need a referral from your insurance company and whether you have received one.
You can check the status of a referral by checking with us prior to your appointment, or by calling the Member Services department at your insurance company.
If you are a Medicaid Carolina Access participant, you will need to obtain a referral from your primary care physician prior to scheduling an appointment.
